Davies Residence Addition

This addition was Designed by Phil Sydnor of Integrate Architecture. We added on to the back side of the house. The wall that used to be the back of the house was opened up and we made the kitchen cabinets into a peninsula with a raised bar area. We had to add additional cabinets to both the peninsula and the opposite wall. New solid surface countertops were installed along with a tile backsplash. Around the corner from the counter we installed a custom sized cabinet with some of the same countertop and shelves above. There are two closets in the new living space. The ceiling is a combination of a vault and dormers and a tray ceiling.
It has a very unique look on the inside with a pair of small triangle windows in the dormer on each end of the room. There is concealed lighting in the tray as well as directional recessed can lights through out, as well as pendants over the peninsula. The oak hardwood floors were tied in with the existing and stained to match. There is a desk/work area in the southeast corner of the addition with solid surface counters.
The windows on the south side of the addition were kept high to avoid looking into the neighbors home as the lot slops down in that direction. The french doors on that side were treated the same with half widows and integrated blinds. There is a deck that wraps around most of the addition. It is finished in composite decking material and there is a hexagonal area that protrudes from the rest with a railing. The deck on the south side is completely covered with a large overhang and there is recessed lighting as well as sconces on the exterior.
